Some of our employees have worked with us for 20 plus years and the cumulative length of service is over 250 years.
Meet some of the team and read their stories below:
Mark Leather
Mark started the company in 1983 after spending 4 years travelling the world, which gave his passion for ingredients and cuisines across the globe.
Mark is still actively involved in the business and can be seen in the development kitchen, evaluating new ingredients and combining them with existing products to create exciting new creations for the ever-growing demand from customers old and new.
Mark still likes to be active in his spare time, looking after his grandchildren and producing compost with his newfound love of gardening.
John Taylor
John has worked in the food industry for over 40 years and his experience covers many different sectors and roles within the industry.
John is still thought to be the “New Boy” at Country Products only joining the company in 2017, however he has guided the business through an exciting period of change and the experience he has gained over the last 40 years is proving invaluable as the company now grows.
John is passionate about the whole business and is focussed on delighting our customers and developing the people within it.
Jo Simpson
Jo officially joined Country Products in 2007, after growing up around the business unofficially helping her Dad, Mark Leather out where she could. Keen to understand every element of how Country Products works Jo started at the bottom and worked in most departments throughout the family business.
This has given Jo a knowledge of the business and its ever-growing customer base and gained her the respect of everyone. Not content with working long hours and weekends, Jo is also undertaking an AAT course in accountancy as well as looking after two young children at home.
With all this hard work, we all know that the future of the family business will continue into the next generation.
Kay Davis
Kay has been with the team for over 5 years and has seen some significant changes during her time at Country Products.
Kay has had more than 20 years’ experience in Technical and Product Development, guiding the business through its BRC accreditation in 2020, gaining an “A grade” at the first audit.
Her commitment ensures that we have the systems in place to maintain the highest standards possible to ensure that the products we supply are of the finest quality.
Sam Sanderson
Sam joined with Country Products in 2010 as a Production Operative and quickly showed her skills on our quad pack machine.
Sam was so good that she started training other people how to use it. She then covered the Supervisors role on the evening shift, developing different skills. Sam’s understanding of the complexities of running over a 1000 products across 6 production lines keeps the business running smoothly as well as ensuring our customers receive their products on time. Sam is a keen Rugby League supporter in her spare time and was a regular at the Leeds Rhino’s matches.
Lauren Taylor
Lauren is one of our new recruits at Country Products joining in June of 2021. Lauren has worked in the Food industry since leaving University with a degree in Food Technology. She has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the food industry, having established her own Vegan Bakery Business four years ago. and has also completed an MBA at Worcester University.
Lauren is developing our management information systems, stock control and warehouse, as well as managing the day-to-day aspects of some of our major retail customers.
Lauren in her spare time still bakes and enjoys walking her German Shepherd.
